Can you believe there are real Christians in knots about the Presidential debate tonight? Many are in despair over the election in November. They are beyond anxious.
Worry steals the parking spot in your heart which is reserved for God’s providence. Solomon describes this life as life under the sun. Living life under the sun requires that you come to terms that all of life, your life and America’s life, is not only under the sun but is also under the providential hand of God.
Think Biblically not just American for just a moment,
Let everyone be subject to the governing authorities, for there is no authority except that which God has established. The authorities that exist have been established by God.
— Romans 13:1
Jesus answered [speaking to Pilate], “You would have no power over me if it were not given to you from above.”
— John 19:11
By me kings reign…
— Proverbs 8:15
…he removes kings, and sets up kings…
— Daniel 2:21
Then God removed Saul and made David their king…
— Acts 13:22
No one … can exalt themselves. It is God who judges: He brings one down, he exalts another.
— Psalms 75:6-7
…the Most High has power over human kingdoms. He gives them to whomever he wishes.
— Daniel 4:17
Do you know how many elections God has watched? There are no accidents in God’s Kingdom. He never needs a mulligan, and he is not looking for a second chance. He is not a do over god.
Trust the Scriptures, not your speculation. God has the election handled. God has your life covered.
In the second chapter of the story of Ruth, the writer says, “Ruth happened to step into the field owned by Boaz.” From our perspective, that is an accurate statement. From the vantage point of Heaven, that was the plan of God.
Bible teacher J. Vernon McGee defines God’s providence this way,
Providence is the means by which God directs all things — both animate and inanimate, seen and unseen, good and evil — toward a worthy purpose, which means His will must finally prevail.
God’s people don’t stumble through life, instead, we step on the providential stones of God’s path. Ruth found a “providential field” that would provide not just the day’s food but a Godly husband, a secure future, and best of all, a lineage for the Messiah to come and save his people from their sins.
You may feel out of control, but God is in control.
You may feel powerless, but God is powerful.
You may feel hopeless, but God is hope.
You may feel the timing is off, but God created time.
This doesn’t mean don’t vote; simply a reminder don’t worry yourself into knots.
The next move is yours.
